Nothing beats the excitement of checking out the audio equipment that you just installed in your car and the feeling is same regardless of whether you are a beginner or a veteran in car audio. However, there are always situations when you find that the sound from the system is not coming out the way you want it. So, there are a few suggestions which are sure to maximize the performance of your system.
You can start with the speakers by making sure that all the cones move out and in simultaneously and are in phase. This ensures a good bass response and great sound. You can also check whether or not the sub-woofers are in phase. You can check that by interchanging the wires that are going into the subwoofer and listen for the bass response.
If you feel that the bass is coming from behind, you can lower the crossover point of subwoofer amplifier. In case the crossover is not adjustable, you can try and move the subwoofer so that it fires in a different direction. There are bass blockers which remove low frequencies and help the front speakers even if they are small to perform in a better way. So you can install bass blockers if you have small front speakers. For those of you who have speakers low in the doors, a set of tweeters would do great for your bass control.
You can further experiment with the crossover points to remove any glitches that you think the bass notes are showing and experience the music by letting the bass kick.
