Gone are the days where brands like Orion and XTR ruled the car audio industry with their heavy bass and macho looks. It is rather disconcerting to see these wonderful brands to fade away. However, although the golden days of these car audio majors are gone, their legacy still exists and they do come up with some products that are truly magnificent.
One such product is Orion’s XTRPRO122 woofer. When you first lay your eyes on it you are sure to be impressed and I was hoping that it would create the same magic that it did when they launched this series a decade back. It is very nicely made equipment and gives a very pleasant look.
Orion claims the XTRPRO122 to be a very versatile subwoofer and is capable of performing in sealed as well as ported enclosures. It has an EBP rating of 49, which is pretty good and is suitable for both enclosures. The RMS rating is 500 watts and the peak handling is 1000 watts, which means you do not require a high definition amplifier to power it up. Even a simple 1500 watt amplifier will give you the same effect and also the distortion is limited.
All in all it is a great product that promises to blow you with impeccable audio quality and great volume. Orion does live up to its legacy with this latest addition and has given us a fantastic woofer that gives a wonderful hearing experience and has definitely been able to recreate the magic.
