For mind-blasting sound effect, you may want to install a car amplifier to boost up your speakers and sub-woofer. However, it makes a big dent in your pocket when you get it fitted from outside. This pretty simple task doesn’t require rocket science; so do it all by yourself by just following you these simple steps-
1. Fix a place for keeping your amplifier and in case you are installing subwoofers then put the amp in the trunk next to the subwoofer attachment. For those wanting to power their car speakers with amp, they should ideally place it underneath the passenger’s seat.
2. For mechanical set up, you will require few cables. So, purchase the following wires for setting up the amp-
- A thick power cable, though the thickness will depend on the total wattage of your amplifier. But the cable will have to run from the battery to reach the amp. Make sure your cable has inline fuse to protect the amp.
- 3 feet ground cable of the thickness equal to the power cable.
- RCA cable to carry the left right signals from the head unit to the amp.
- A thin wire “remote on” wire of approx. 20 to 24 gauge, it will reach the amp through the unit
- Speaker wire, for main speakers buy a 16-gauge wire and for subwoofers you need to buy a 3 feet of 12-gauge wire per sub.
