The latest amplifier from Clarion is the XH5410 4-Channel Amp. There are many who are of the opinion that this latest device has the caliber to challenge the current market leaders. At the first glance it looks like a decent device in terms of looks and design. However, we were a bit skeptical about the technology and its ability to give the leaders a run for their money. So, we did an extensive review of the device.
It has a pretty compact size (9 X 2.6 X 14.7″) and this makes it pretty powerful. The ends caps are done very nicely with shiny plastic. However, there are certain areas that have some loose strings. The screw holes are big and can easily take in a magnetic holder. This surely comes as a great relief to us. Although a different arrangement would have made things easier, we will have to settle with this. The design is impressive with the square shape and is easy-to-use.
The power as well as speaker terminals accept bare wire, but the screws holding the wire should have had Allen heads. The design of the fuse is a bit of a disappointment as it sticks to the old school, whereas most of the competitors have moved on to newer technology. But it doesn’t mean that the fuse is weak, it is simply a bit outdated. All in all, a decent amplifier with some really nice features, but it definitely needs a few upgrades in as far as technology is concerned.
